Roll away the Stone

Seasonal songs rarely include Easter. So for this show on Easter Day we’re going to play some music inspired by Easter, some that symbolises resurrection and the rise after the fall.

We make room for an emotional reading of WB Yeats ‘Easter 2016’ by Liam Neeson with music  by Zachary David. A couple of classic hymns and gospel songs are reinvented for 2021 and namecheck a few people I bumped into yesterday. But first we’ll remember why this day is so special.

Hour One

A Man Called Adam – Easter Song (Café del Mar version) with RS reading from John 19 (Single 1995)

Marillion – Easter (Season’s End 1989)

Sault – Rise (Untitled/Rise 2020)

Owl City – In Christ Alone (I’ll Stand) (One-off 2010)

The Blue Nile – Easter Parade (A Walk Across the Rooftops 1984)

The Stone Roses – I am the Resurrection (extended) (The Stone Roses 1989)

The Hold Steady – How a Resurrection Really Feels (Separation Sunday 2005)

Martha Wainwright – Love will be Reborn (Love will be Reborn 2021)

Andra Day – Rise up (Inspiration version) (Cheers to the Fall 2015)

Chris Tomlin ft Kari Jobe – Crown Him (Majesty) (Burning Lights 2013)

I'm someone who doesn't like parameters, barriers or fences. I'll try and climb over them, burrow under them or just pretend they don't exist - until they don't. Sometimes I'll write about the mind in a poetic way, or poetry with neural undertones, or I'll proselytise endlessly about my favourite new band - or one of the old ones. My Blog will give you the keys to the kingdom. A kingdom with no borders, no expectations and, therefore, no failure.. Because I am endlessly empathetic with people, their motivation, their behaviour, their problems and their quest for knowledge, I work with the pioneering Brighton-based homeless, vulnerable women and disempowered school students charity Off The Fence Trust that has tried to redress the equality deficit for over two decades. I produce, host and promote two radio shows a week: The Whole Nine Yards Sundays 3-5pm on Mid Sussex Radio 103.8FM (www.midsussexradio.co.uk/listen) - and Lost Immortals on Mid Sussex Radio 103.8FM on Sundays 5-7pm.
