You is one of the most personal words in the English language. ‘Hello You’ is far more ‘Hello You’ is far more intimate than using the person’s real name. It suggests intimacy and a closeness that permits the use of such a term of endearment. The Netflix series ‘You’ uses this intimacy to turn in on itself to the point where the hero of the series transfers this ‘You-ness’ to each of the women he fixates on – and then murders.
