The flute adds amazing possibilities to any song. Like a lofty, somehow timeless voice, adding a certain je ne sais quoi. It particularly works well in jazz contexts and where the musician is trying to create big statements as in Prog Rock or in standing on one leg scenarios as with Jethro Tull.  Intros, bridges, instrumental breaks – when a flute enters a pop song, it bursts in like a sunray and scorches the listener.
