The Land of Nod

The phrase ‘Land of Nod’ originates from the Book of Genesis. It refers to the place where Cain was exiled after he killed his brother Abel. The name ‘Nod’ comes from the Hebrew root meaning “to wander,” symbolizing Cain’s life of wandering after his banishment.

Over time, the phrase evolved into a playful expression for sleep, thanks to a pun on the word “nod” (as in nodding off to sleep) popularized in the 18th century by the satirist Jonathan Swift.

The flute adds amazing possibilities to any song. Like a lofty, somehow timeless voice, adding a certain je ne sais quoi.
