Uncharted

On the show this week, which I’ve called ‘Uncharted’, I’ve delved into the forgotten corners of my musical cupboard, starting from when I started seriously listening to music. From 1969 to 1994 – half of my listening life – I’ve collected songs that never made the charts, but carved deep grooves in my memory. One track from each year that I consider to be the best release of the year. The tracks that defied popularity, that passed fame by and somehow said more because of it. Each song is a bus stop on a personal trip through sound: overlooked, underplayed, and unforgettable. This isn’t a history of hits – it’s a love letter to the ones that got away.

A beautiful miss parade.

Part two – ‘Off the Chart’ 1995 to the present next week.
