Always

Some words carry a kind of gravitational pull, and ‘always’ is one of them. It’s a promise of devotion that stretches beyond the present. ‘Always’ is what we say when we want to reassure ourselves – or someone else.

It’s the promise we make at the altar, the hope that lingers after a goodbye, the ultimate ‘yes’ that we can offer another person.

Some songs celebrate devotion; others admit how fragile “always” can be. But each one holds a spark of hope – that love, in all its forms, can endure.

Just Say Yes

Yes Man was a Danny Wallace book and a Jim Carrey film.

Danny Wallace’s memoir begins with a simple challenge: say “yes” to everything for an entire year.

The results are chaotic, hilarious, occasionally disastrous — but also lifeexpanding.

The message isn’t blind positivity; it’s about breaking the gravitational pull of habit, fear, and inertia.

The film adaptation exaggerates the comedy, but the heart remains: saying “yes” opens doors you didn’t know existed. Saying yes as rebellion / Saying yes as awakening / Saying yes as messy, chaotic growth / Saying yes as connection / Saying yes as selfpermission / Saying yes as a way of stepping into your own life.

The possibility that yes doesn’t guarantee safety, but it does guarantee movement.

Saying yes doesn’t have to be a doorstop, it can be a door opening.

The Promise

Today’s show is built around a simple idea that’s anything but simple: the promise.

We make them lightly when we’re young, more carefully as we grow older, and sometimes with trembling hands when life has roughed us up. Promises are supposed to be for life – vows we stitch into the fabric of who we are. They hold us together, guide us forward, and remind us of the people we once said we’d be.

But when a promise breaks sometimes we do too. And yet – and this is the beautiful, crazy, hopeful part – we keep making them anyway. Because to promise is to believe in tomorrow. To believe in each other. To believe in ourselves, even when we’re not entirely sure we should.

So across the next couple of hours, the music will explore the vows we keep, the ones we lose, and the ones that change us. We’ll listen out for the promise of safety, and when that’s gone, the quiet courage of trying again.
