Where is my mind?

The Pixies meet Retrowave with piano and orchestra; Dead Boys join Iceage, whilst the Groundhogs, Savoy Brown, Jack Bruce and Leslie West jam. Cannons reinvent the Mac; Joan Baez sings about her trials and Yeah Yeah Yeahs make a come back sounding like The Mock Turtles who join the bill too. Just Say Yes

In  Dawn French’s novel ‘According to Yes’ Rosie Kitto, a thirty-eight-year-old primary school teacher runs away to New York looking for a fresh start. The 2008 movie Yes Man, starring Jim Carrey sees the main character stuck in a rut. He goes to a self-help seminar and learns to unleash the power of saying YES to absolutely everything. Three people die in the U.K every day waiting for an organ transplant and there are currently around 6800 waiting for that lifesaving call. Burgess Hill based Sarah Jones knows she is one of the lucky ones. As a recipient of a donor kidney she knows she has received the gift of life. Last year Sarah won the Award from the British Transplant Society and NHSBT for a Volunteer in Excellence in Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplantation. The NHS Organ Donor Register is a confidential database operated by NHSBT recording the names of individuals who wish to pass on the gift of life through organ donation after their death.

Everything Changes in the End

We’re sad, frightened and apprehensive all at the same time.  We’ve lost our national icon, feel powerless about the war in the East and worried about impending recession. It seems impossible to live with but then it dawned on me that there is an entire nation who suffers from these more than most..

Scotland is the birthplace of Harry Potter, the Picts, the Glasgow kiss and lots of rain so the Scots know how to cope, and they do this by producing the best Indie music. So before we say goodbye to the Queen who loved the place, let’s enjoy some of its music.
